A native of Porto Alegre, Ariani was Director of the John Nuveen Center for International Affairs at University of Illinois-Chicago, served as Acting Executive Director, International Latino Cultural Center of Chicago, and taught Portuguese and Spanish. She is Founder/Director of MOSTRA: Brazilian Film Series and a member of the Chicago Council of Brazilian Citizens at the Brazilian Consulate.
